Nimisha Jaya Gobi
What is your current role?
I lead the Employment and Industrial Relations Practice and am also a Partner of the Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Practice at LAW Partnership. I advise and represent multinational corporations in manoeuvring intricacies through civil and commercial litigation at all levels of the Court, as well as where employer-employee relationships and their legal entanglements are concerned. I act for industry leaders across a range of sectors and industries including construction, aviation, education, food and beverage, information technology, luxury, fashion, manufacture, and water technology.
What is your proudest achievement?
I joined LAW Partnership in 2019 as its Senior Associate, being a fully trained litigator. I was instructed by the Firm to start its Employment and IR Practice. I was tasked to not only accelerate my growth of skills and experience in developing this new Practice, but to also jointly spearhead the expansion of the Dispute Resolution Practice into areas of general litigation beyond Intellectual Property. Currently, the Employment and IR Practice is ranked Band 3, the Dispute Resolution Practice Band 4, and I have been named Next Generation Partner for Labour and Employment - by Legal 500.
If you had 25 hours in a day, what would you do with the extra hour?
My extra hour would be devoted to spending time with my parents. There is never enough time in a day to spend with our loved ones and with the high demands of the professional world, I find the greatest joy and peace being around my parents in conversation.
If you weren't a lawyer, what would you be?
I would either be a chef (hopefully at my own restaurant), or a professional emcee or host for events. I am certainly divided between my passion for food and my passion for entertaining the masses. Ask me again in 2 years’ time!
Your favourite food haunt is...?
Well, I haunt my parents’ home over weekends as I am a true fan of the food they cook! Outside of that, I would say that I have been very enthusiastically professing my excitement for “Satti Sorru” (Indian claypot rice with a blend of chosen meat or seafood curries). Such enthusiasm has led me to various outlets such as Gana Satti Sorru, Shami’s Kitchen, etc, and I have yet to decide which has topped my list!
