Who are we?
Welcome to Overheard in Asia, where legal updates are served with a side of cheekiness.
We’re your go-to bi-monthly newsletter dedicated to the world of dispute resolution and arbitration in the Asia-Pacific region.
In a space often dominated by dull and serious reporting, we saw a gap for something different – something that speaks to you, not at you. We bring you the latest in the region's legal news with engaging insights, punchy commentary, and a personal touch.
Overheard in Asia is your antidote to the dry legalese by delivering useful information with a side of wit.
We don’t just inform; we entertain you with:
Our Spotlight section where we feature dispute practitioners from diverse backgrounds across the world, especially those who do work in Asia.
A calendar of Events to keep you in the know on all the region’s must-attend functions.
And since nothing brings people together like Good Food, we’ll be serving up some tasty tidbits too (this one is particularly loved by our readers!)
So, stay in the loop, stay ahead, and most importantly, stay engaged with Overheard in Asia.

Meet Ji En, the legal tech enthusiast with a passion for innovation. After years as an associate at a global law firm in Singapore, he decided to switch gears and founded Chambers Lab, a startup focused on making the practice of law not just effective, but enjoyable.
With over 9 years in the legal tech space, he has been leaving his mark on the legal industry – from building Nusa Chambers, the first Asian-centric virtual chambers; to co-founding the Asia-Pacific Legal Innovation and Technology Association (ALITA); and leading Legal Hackers Singapore. He has even contributed to strategies for the Singapore government on the future of law in a tech-driven world and taught Law Firm Management at the University of Malaya’s Faculty of Law.
Ji En’s expertise has taken him around the world, speaking on technology and innovation in law from Korea to Italy to Singapore. When he’s not busy working, speaking or lecturing, he enjoys yoga and cycling – including a 130 km round-the-island trip in Singapore. And here’s another fun tidbit: he also once organised an international fashion modelling competition in Xi’an!
